Eating Fingers is a series of TikTok parody videos in which users implement the mirror feature to create the illusion that they're eating severed fingers in sync with the Kidz Bop cover of Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life."
On December 9th, 2008, YouTuber George Frank Hayford-Taylor uploaded the first video that uses a mirror effect to create the finger eating illusion. The video has gotten 300 views in 11 years (shown below).
On August 12th, 2003, the children's music group Kidz Bop released Kidz Bop 4, the fourth cover album.[1] On March 8th, 2013, UltimateKidzBopFan uploaded the song to YouTube. The video received 1,702,491 views and 23,000 likes in six years.
In September 2018, @scoobertdoober posted the first known "Eating Fingers" parody video to TikTok (shown below).
On September 2nd, 2018, YouTuber E the Unicorn, posted a tutorial on how to create the "finger eating" illusion (shown below, left). The video gained 3,110 views in four months. The following day, Lily Gough posted a similar tutorial to YouTube which has garnered 4,199 views in four months (shown below, right).
In June 2018, there was a similar eating finger illusion trending on TikTok called the "Finger Bite Challenge" which utilized loud recorded eating sounds while users pretend to eat their fingers. On June 12th, 2018, Musically Compilation posted a video entitled "NEW Finger Bite Challenge (Can You Eat Your Fingers ?) Musically Compilation" to YouTube (shown below). The video has gained 89,552 views and 477likes in seven months.
