Eat A Bowl Of Rigatoni Pasta is a viral campaign originating in January 2020 when one TikToker suggested that everyone eats a bowl of Rigatoni on May 24th, 2021. Many found the suggestion to be humorously absurd, leading many TikTokers to adopt it as a catchphrase and post references to the May 24th date.

Origin

On January 14th, 2020, TikToker jimmyrules32 posted a video of some flies with the text, "eat a bowl of rigatoni pasta on may 24 2021" and used the hashtag #eatabowlofrigatonipastaonmay242021 (shown below). The video gained over 70,500 likes in seven months.

Spread

After the initial post in January 2020, TikTokers posted reminders and references to the date over the next five months. On January 16th, TikToker arieolas used the hashtag #eatabowlofrigatonipastaonmay242021 in a reminder video that garnered over 290,100 likes in six months (shown below, left). On May 24th, TikToker internetscum posted a meme about it being a year until they all eat rigatoni (shown below, center). The video accumulated over 24,100 likes in two months. On May 27th, walmartkatniss posted another video referencing the event and acquired over 59,400 likes in two months. TikTokMerch^[1] and StayHipp^[2] published articles on trend.
