About
Dumbest Man Alive refers to an exploitable webcomic based off a SrGrafo template. Though originally the template read "Smartest Man Alive," most subsequent edits used an altered "Dumbest Man Alive" template and used it as a Things I Don't Like exploitable.
Origin
On May 31st, 2019, SrGrafo posted a template to the /r/SrGrafo subreddit titled "Smartest Fella."[1] In the template, a man says he is the "smartest man alive," after which another man says something which causes the first man to say "you're clearly superior" (shown below).
Spread
On June 4th, Redditor greendragon4343 posted an edit in which the text was changed to "Dumbest Man Alive," gaining over 1,300 points[2] (shown below, left). This became a much more popular template, as people used the "dumbest man alive" template to make "Things I Don't Like" edits. For example, Redditor ApersonOfEarth1[3] posted an edit reading "Minion Memes Are Funny" in /r/memes[3] (shown below, right).
Over the following two months, the template spread as people created numerous "Things I Don't Like" edits. On August 10th, Imgur user tearose11[4] posted an edit as part of the VideoGamesAreNotToBlame campaign, gaining over 2,200 points on the site (shown below, left). On August 14th, Redditor Eja_26 posted an edit to /r/dankmemes[5] that gained over 93,000 points (shown below, right).
