Drops Phone "Please Don't Be Cracked" refers to an exploitable image macro series using the phrasal template "*Drops phone* 'Please don't be cracked' The Phone:" followed by a video of someone being "cracked," a slang term meaning "skilled," at something, or a photo of someone on crack. The original image macro was posted to Reddit in late 2019 and became the subject of edits over the following years, spreading to sites including X (Twitter) and TikTok in 2023.
Origin
On October 26th, 2019, Redditor u/Max_Stoned posted an image macro to /r/memes[1] captioned "*Drops phone* 'Please don't be cracked' Phone:" along with a mugshot of a woman who appears to be a drug addict, garnering over 13,000 upvotes in four years (shown below).

Spread
The original meme gained viral spread over the following days, including an October 27th, 2019 repost to X[2] by @kaylaszn that gained over 12,000 likes in four years. On November 19th, X[3] user @UKNoContext posted a new version of the meme replacing the photo with one of someone with a crack pipe in their mouth, garnering over 1,400 likes in four years. On May 23rd, 2020, X[4] user @unfriendly403 posted a similar new version of the meme, garnering over 1,300 likes in three years.
On May 26th, 2021, Instagram[5] user harverd.universite posted a version of the meme using an image of someone playing Fortnite, garnering over 2,000 likes in two years (shown below, left). On June 8th, Instagram[6] user cheemsitz posted a version of the meme featuring a photoshop of Cheems as Ninja, garnering over 12,000 likes in the same span of time (shown below, right).
A video version of the Fortnite meme gained viral spread on Instagram[9] throughout 2022, including a January 8th, 2022 post by user squidsgalaxy, garnering over 517,000 views in a year.
On March 3rd, 2023, Instagram[7] user onlyballs_ posted a version of the meme using an image of Walter White from Breaking Bad gaming, garnering over 9,100 likes in eight months (shown below). It was reposted by Instagram[8] user lilcasper.v2 on March 11th, garnering over 16,000 likes in the same span of time.
The meme was popularized on TikTok in 2023. For example, on November 13th, 2023, TikToker[10] @sir.hoxton posted a version of the meme using modded Fortnite footage that resembles Mario Kart, garnering over 7.4 million views in a week (shown below, left). On November 17th, TikToker[11] @liate_pootis posted a version of the meme that gained over 1.1 million views in five days (shown below, right).
