Driving In (State) Be Like refers to a snowclone popular on Twitter in which people use ASCII Art and emoji to create an image of a car driving down a road and passing a billboard with region-specific text. The snowclone changes the emoji and text based on which state or city the person is driving through.

Origin

On February 11th, 2019, Twitter user @fauxroxy[1] tweeted a series of emoji and ASCII art to represent a car driving in Kansas, passing a billboard with the phrase "ABORTION IS MURDER. EAT BEEF." The tweet gained over 1,300 retweets and 9,500 likes (shown below).


Spread

The format quickly grew popular on Twitter. That day, other popular tweets using the format include a tweet by @FattyPaddie about the northern suburbs of Chicago, gaining over 1,400 retweets (shown below, left). Twitter user @miram_reese tweeted about Iowa, gaining over 600 retweets (shown below, right).


Other popular tweets include a tweet by @classicmerm about Utah, that gained over 1,200 retweets (shown below, left). User @alllexdrago tweeted an example about Philadelphia, gaining over 4,900 retweets and 20,000 likes (shown below, right). The jokes were covered by Mashable.[2]
