Origin

Draw Your Life is an exploitable template, closely related to the DeviantArt Age Meme template, that originated on the /b/ board of 4chan in early 2010.

About

Based on the character from the 'Draw Yourself' and ’Your Life’ threads that came about in late 2009, Draw Your Life, this template uses the same character as those, but with the intent to show yourself as you grew up, not just as you are at this very moment.

The intent of the template is for people to fill in what they looked, dressed, and acted like at ages 10, 13, 16, and their current age.

Although the main purpose of the template was to be filled in, many people wrote a summary of what they were like, what music they listened to, what was happening to them at those ages.

Derivatives

Being an easily replicated template that can be applied to almost any person, Draw Your Life quickly caught-on on 4chan, with whole threads made with the template at the heart of them, spreading to BAWWW threads with people’s stories of their lives and to You Laugh, You Lose threads with the template being applied to various fictional characters.
