Down South Hood Baby is a group dance trend originating on TikTok in June 2020. The videos which use a sound clip of KBFR's 2020 song "Hood Baby"^[2] involve a group of friends lined up in profile lipsyncing the song and turning their heads to the beat.

Origin

On June 16th, 2020, TikToker micahgran uploaded the first Down South Hood Baby choreographed video (shown below). The video garnered over 363,100 likes in nine days.

Spread

On June 18th, 2020 TikToker hahahakate used the sound clip "Hood Baby-Kbfr" in a video with several friends mimicking micahgran's video (shown below, left). The video gained over 427,900 likes in a week. The next day, TikToker elizaminorr uploaded their variation that received over 1.4 million likes in six days (shown below, center). On June 20th, TikToker slimedupmike uploaded a video of a group of friends performing the movements that accumulated over 2.8 million likes in five days. StayHipp^[1] published an article on the trend.
