Origin
On November 14th, 2024, TikToker[1] @beebelarts shared a video of a Roblox character shrouded in darkness set to the song, "Don't Cry" by Lil Wayne, featuring XXXTentacion. The video received over 4.6 million plays and 923,400 likes in a month (shown below).
Spread
In the following weeks, others used the video's TikTok sound,[2] commonly reposting the original video but adding a new caption. For instance, on December 7th, 2024, TikToker[3] @ihatemyboyfriend1hater posted an iteration with a caption reading, "Me after he made me block fine shyt," receiving over 428,500 plays and 105,900 likes in 13 days (shown below).
On December 14th, TikToker[4] @sryifurelate posted an iteration about, "Me when bro says no to playing Roblox," gaining over 1.5 million plays and 350,000 likes in a week (shown below).
Increasingly viral iterations of the meme surfaced in the following days. For instance, on December 16th, 2024, TikToker[5] @coolestkatondablok posted an iteration about when "U" is autocorrected to "I" in an argument, amassing over 1.6 million plays and 373,900 likes in four days (shown below).
