About

Donald Trump Inaugural Address Photo refers to a photograph of United States President-elect Donald Trump seated a desk while purportedly writing his upcoming inaugural address at Mar-a-Lago, his mansion in Palm Beach, Florida.

Origin

On January 18th, 2017, Trump tweeted a photograph of himself holding a pen and pad of paper while seated at a desk, stating that he was "writing my inaugural address at the Winter White House" (shown below). Within 24 hours, the tweet gained over 90,000 likes and 19,000 retweets.[1]

Two minutes later, Twitter user Jules Suzdaltsev accused Trump of holding a "blank piece of paper" and a "closed sharpie" (shown below).[8]

Spread

Shortly after, Twitter user @BenjaminJS[4] posted a photoshop of the picture with Trump drawing on the paper with Crayons (shown below, left). That same day, Twitter user @missdewey[6] posted a photograph of a Mar-a-Lago reception desk, leading many to speculate that Trump was using the desk for the photo opportunity (shown below, right).

Additional Twitter users reposted the photo along with jokes about what Trump was writing on the paper (shown below). Meanwhile, Redditor TestAcc007 submitted the photo to /r/The_Donald.[5] In the coming days, BuzzFeed,[9] NY Mag,[7] UpRoxx[2] and The Huffington Post[3] published articles about the online reaction to the photograph.
