Donald Trump Without Makeup Photo, also known as Donald Trump No Makeup Photo or Donald Trump at Pro-am Event 2022, is a photograph of former President Donald Trump pictured without makeup or tanner wearing a Make America Great Again hat and a white Trump polo shirt. The image was taken at the LIV Golf Invitational tournament in New Jersey, alongside Saudi friends of Trump. It first surfaced on Twitter in July 2022 where it became an exploitable image macro used in memes and commentary. Many of the reactions were related to how old and withered the former U.S. President appeared.

Origin

On July 28th, 2022, AP Photo^[1] photographer Seth Wenig captured an image of former U.S. President Donald Trump in between golfing at the pro-am at the Bedminster Invitational LIV Golf tournament in Bedminster, New Jersey. He appeared to be chatting with both his daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner (shown below). On the same day, news outlet the Daily Mail US tweeted^[2] the photo of Trump, earning roughly 1,500 likes in one day.

Followers of the Daily Mail US had some immediate reactions, levying memes and funny remarks in the replies and quote retweets. On July 28th, 2022, Twitter^[3] user limitlessjest was the first to tweet a humorous reply, comparing the Trump photo to one of Star Wars villain Darth Sidious (Palpatine), earning over 410 likes in one day (shown below, left). Twitter^[4] user PhoBurns posted a meme soon after, comparing Trump to canned ham wearing a MAGA hat, receiving over 980 likes in the same amount of time (shown below, right).

On July 28th, Twitter^[5] user ecareyo used the photo in their own tweet, captioning it, "He looks fucking amazing!!!!" and earning roughly 4,800 likes in less than a day (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter^[6] user MikeSington tweeted, "When you leave the White House and no longer have access to the full time hair and makeup person on staff," over the top of the image macro, earning roughly 9,700 likes in less than a day (shown below, right).

The memes and discussion spread to other social sites like 4chan on July 28th, such as one anon who started a thread on /pol/ ^[7] stating, "This isn't fucking him. He's fucking dead. It's over, pack it up" (shown below, left). Also on July 28th, the image was posted to Reddit's /r/Damnthatsinteresting^[8] subreddit by Redditor jcepiano, earning roughly 1,700 upvotes before being deleted on the same day (shown below, right).
