#DominateMeIn4Words refers to a hashtag which spread on Twitter in late February of 2020. While initially the hashtag was used in a sexual context, it quickly began trending as people parodied it using food and pop-culture related jokes.
Origin
On February 23rd, 2020, the Twitter account @PBJ_Tags,[1] an account dedicated to starting hashtag games, invited its followers to use the hashtag #DominateMeIn4Words, gaining over 20 retweets and 50 likes (shown below).
Spread
Initially, the hashtag began spreading as people used it to make sexual references. For example, user @rteirish543[2] tweeted the hashtag with the phrase, "High heels and stockings," gaining over 350 likes (shown below, left). However, the hashtag quickly became popularly used with GIFs of food, causing the hashtag to trend on Twitter under the "food" category. For example, user @jvbt882hs[3] tweeted pictures of freshly baked biscuits with the hashtag, gaining over 90 retweets and 800 likes (shown below, right).
Some of the most popular tweets in the hashtag used jokes from popular meme culture. For example, user @CriminalScrub[4] made a Toddrolling joke with the hashtag, gaining over 70 retweets and 460 likes (shown below, left). User @EmperorOTN1[5] gained over 310 retweets and 1,400 likes making a Yu-Gi-Oh! joke (shown below, right).
