On May 22nd, 2024, X^[1] user @tswiftvoodoo posted a photoshop of Taylor Swift with one eye next to the same, unedited photo of Taylor Swift, writing, "do you prefer taylor with one eye or two eyes?" garnering over 4,700 likes and 1,000 reposts in eight months.

The post experienced a surge in popularity in January 2025, inspiring posts parodying the original with other actors, people and characters. For example, on January 28th, 2025, X^[2] user @AWHlTENIGHT posted a photoshop of the K-pop group Red Velvet with one eye, garnering over 3,000 likes in three days.
