About

Do You or Do You Not Feel Bonita? refers to a Family Guy scene in which the character Chris Griffin is putting a Quinceañera dress on Brian Griffin and asking him if he feels "bonita" (Spanish for "beautiful"). The scene became a TikTok trend and meme in early 2023 when users posted lip-dub videos of it and used Chris' question and Brian's low-energy answer as the punchline for a situation of their choosing, most often related to beauty and makeup.

Origin

On January 14th, 2018, season 16, episode 11 of Family Guy (titled "Dog Bites Bear") aired on American television.[1] In the episode, one scene involved Chris Griffin putting a Quinceañera dress on Brian and asking him, "Do you or do you not feel bonita?" as in the Spanish word for "beautiful" (YouTube[2] upload shown below).

Chris: Do you or do you not feel bonita?
Brian: I feel bonita.
Chris: Wonderful, becuase you look bonita! Gracias cariña, puedes recogerlo el miercoles (translated: "Thank you dear, you can pick it up Wednesday").

On December 17th, 2022, TikToker[3] @spencerkennedy62 posted a Family Guy and Mobile App Game Overstimulation Video using the aforementioned Family Guy clip, earning roughly 750,500 plays and 60,500 likes in three months (shown below, left).

About a month later, in January 2023, a since-deleted TikTok video went viral that used the audio of the Family Guy clip. Although the video has been deleted, people used the video's sound in January, such as TikToker[4] @maeviixx on January 20th, 2023, whose video that lip-dubbed the sound gained roughly 23,400 plays and 1,000 likes in two months (shown below, right). The currently unknown and deleted TikTok that created @maeviixx's sound is the likely origin of the later, viral "Do You or Do You Not Feel Bonita?" TikTok trend.

Spread

On February 17th, 2023, TikToker[5] @the.cheeese.mann posted an original reanimation of the Family Guy scene by using its audio. The video earned roughly 4 million plays and 147,100 likes in 18 days (shown below, left). The video's TikTok[6] sound became the primary original sound used by video creators going forward. For instance, on March 3rd, TikToker[7] @jacksonthefiredog posted a video using the sound, earning roughly 17 million plays and 5 million likes in four days (shown below, right).

Going into March 2023, the trend gained more engagement as others started using the TikTok[6] sound, which accumulated over 141,800 videos using it by March 7th, 2023.
