"Do It For The Vine" / 2013 MFs refers to a meme that references the Do It For the Vine catchphrase inspired by the app Vine, wherein, creators would perform any task or stunt, "for the Vine." In early 2022, meme creators on Instagram, Reddit and TikTok started making ironic content about "MFs" in 2013 doing outrageous or dangerous stunts with the aforementioned caption. Many of the videos used the song "Trap Queen" performed by Fetty Wap.

Origin

On April 13th, 2022, Instagram^[1] user mistah_g_ captioned a video of Captain America jumping out of a skyscraper window with, "'do it for the vi-' / 2013 mfs:" earning over 320 views and 52 likes in one month (shown below, left). On April 18th, 2022, Instagram^[2] user sora.gif.v3 replaced "2012" with "2013," earning roughly 178,600 views and 40,200 likes in three weeks (shown below, right).

On April 20th, 2022, the Captain America meme was remade and posted to Reddit by Redditor slink_64bit, however, the post has since been deleted. Despite this, the meme was reposted to Instagram^[3] on April 20th by the page lonnieiiv, where it received roughly 127,100 views and 21,300 likes in three weeks (shown below)

On April 21st, 2022, TikToker^[4] n0t_umair posted a video that overlayed Redditor slink_64bit's meme, earning roughly 1.5 million plays and 169,400 likes in three weeks (shown below, left). On April 30th, TikToker^[5] superhero_jay remade the Captain America meme but used Fetty Wap's song "Trap Queen" as the audio, earning roughly 2.5 million plays and 537,200 likes in 10 days (shown below, right).

Going into May 2022, the idea of "2013 MFs" doing hyperbolically dangerous stunts for the Vine became a well-known meme on TikTok. For instance, on May 4th, 2022, TikToker^[6] macdonald181 captioned a video of Kratos from God of War walking off a cliff, earning roughly 900,800 plays and 133,800 likes in five days (shown below, left). On May 8th, 2022, the Twitter^[7] account BreakingBadIrny posted a screenshot of a Gus Fring GIF that earned roughly 88,400 likes in one day (shown below, right).
