Different Cultures' Interpretations of Jesus refers to a photoshop template in which there are four panels representing different artistic renderings of Jesus Christ. In the meme, three of the panels are actual cultural interpretations of Jesus while the fourth is replaced with an image of a different character or person for the punchline.

Origin

The earliest known instance of this image was posted on June 4th, 2016, by Tumblr user kidsinserviceofsatan,[2] who used an image of Columbine shooter Eric Harris as the punchline image. The image, shown below, gained eight notes.

Spread

On June 26th, 2016, Weird Facebook page Stale memes for normie has-beens[1] posted the meme with Karl Marx as the punchline image. The post, shown below, has gained 132 likes and reactions as of December 21st, 2016.

Over the course of the next few months, more variations appeared that used different characters and people as the punchline. It grew popular in fandoms. For example, a post on /r/Warriors used Steph Curry as the punchline,[3] and a post on /r/rupaulsdragrace included Ru Paul.[4] One of the most popular examples was posted to the Filthy Frank Facebook page.[5] It used Filthy Frank as the punchline, and gained over 57,000 likes and reactions.
