Did the Journal Factory Explode is a catchphrase derived from a TikTok comment by a user named "tris 7/" used as a jab when someone posts something deemed too personal or emotionally revealing, the joke being that they should have written the thought in their journal instead. A screenshot of the comment was posted to X / Twitter in late February 2026, and the phrase spread over the following weeks.
Origin
On February 26th, 2026, X[1] user @mobilesuitsam posted a screenshot of a comment exchange on TikTok. In the exchange, a user named "bookishpauli" writes, "ive never been dated and/or loved LOL." A user named "tris 7/" responds, "did the journal factory explode." The post gained over 84,000 likes and 6,500 reposts in two weeks.
Spread
On February 27th, 2026, X[2] user @queermediabait quoted the post by @mobilesuitsam with a meme that applies the comments to the Yellowjackets characters Shauna Shipman and Mari Ibarra, garnering over 1,200 likes in two weeks.
That day, X[3] user @upuntil_dawn quoted the post, writing, "Did the journal factory explode is the funniest and most relatable thing I’ve heard in a long time," garnering over 256,000 likes and 12,000 reposts in two weeks.
On March 1st, Instagram[4] user fullofshadee posted a screenshot of the tweet that gained over 22,400 likes in two weeks.
On March 13th, 2026, X[4] user @jackcalifano posted, "Have had 'did the journal factory explode' stuck in my head for a week. An all timer for sure," garnering over 25,000 likes in under a day.
