Deep Fried BBQ Chicken Stuffed Pizzadilla is a viral food recipe that combines pizza, barbecue chicken and quesadillas. A video of the dish being prepared went viral due to the reaction to the number of steps in the recipe as well as the finished product.

Origin

On August 1st, 2019, the website Twisted^[1] published a recipe for the "Deep Fried BBQ Chicken Stuffed Pizzadilla." The following week, the site posted a video of the recipe being made on YouTube. Within one month, the video received more than 100,000 views (shown below).

Spread

On August 22nd, 2019, Twitter user @_kurlykay published a clip of the video. They captioned the post, "okay but I just wanna know WHY?" Within one week, the tweet received more than 19 million views, 19,000 likes and 4,400 retweets (shown below).

Two days later, journalist Yashar Ali tweeted the video with the caption, "I’m calling the FBI." Within two days, the tweet received more than 176,000 likes and 36,000 retweets (shown below).

On August 25th, Twitter^[2] user @chezspence tweeted, "kind of tempted to make that deep fried bbq chicken deep dish quesadilla pepperoni pizza tonight." Over the course of several hours, @chezspence live-tweeted the cooking of the dish. the inital tweet, received more than 39,000 likes and 5,000 retweets in 24 hours (excerpts below).

Additionally, @chezspence published a video of himself taking a bite of the dish and wretching into a sink due to the taste (shown below).
