Day Ruined Emoji refers to cursed emoji of sad emoji by implied it day has been ruined by something. Online, it was used as image macro and catchphrase like "X, day ruined".
Origin
On February 12th, 2020, anonymous user of 4chan uploaded image of sad emoji with low quality captioned "Walk outside see brown person. Day ruined", unfortunately the origin thread was unknown. On the next day, the screenshot of it was uploaded by Reddit user RanOverHer[1] to /r/4chan subreddit. The post received 479 upvotes (shown below, left).
On January 16th, 2020, Reddit user sssnark[2] uploaded the text blackout version by changing "brown" to "white" to /r/okbuddyretard subreddit. The image received 1,989 upvotes (shown below, right).
Precursor
On April 28th, 2017, anonymous user 4chan uploaded image with greentext about someone who look outside and see black person, then suddenly day ruined. On December 8th, 2019, iFunny[3] user ISIS_Chan uploaded the screenshot of it. The image received more than 1,700 smiles and 86 comments (shown below).
Spread
On the next month, the image spreading to Twitter and other sites. For example on March 2nd, 2020, Twitter user @reactjpg[4] uploaded variation of it (shown below).
