Daten Route is a series of animation memes and fan art based on an animation by Channel in which Ame-chan (aka KAngel, a streamer from the video game Needy Streamer Overload) dances to the song "Angel Yamu" by Aiobahn to increase her follower account, her outfit changing to become more revealing as she dances, which, in turn, increases her follower account exponentially. The meme was popularized on YouTube and TikTok throughout July 2024, inspiring animators to recreate the animation, replacing KAngel with other characters. It also inspired fan art referencing the video.

Origin

On July 6th, 2024, an animator known as Channel posted an animation to X^[1] and YouTube^[2]^[3] as both a short and long-form video, garnering over 263,000 likes on the former, 2.2 million on the short and 1.3 million on the long-form video in two weeks (long-form video shown below).

In the video, Ame-chan, aka KAngel, the protagonist of the Steam^[4] video game Needy Streamer Overload, in which you must help a streamer become famous, dances to the song "Angel Yamu" by artist Aiobahn. As the video goes on, KAngel is seen purchasing and wearing increasingly revealing outfits, which causes her following to rise but her "mental darkness" and "stress" levels to rise and her "affection" level to fall.

Spread

The video inspired numerous works of fan art and recreations of the animation throughout July 2024. For example, on July 7th and 8th, X^[5]^[6] users @pahurino and @ma3kamea posted drawings of KAngel wearing outfits from the animation, attempting to cover herself, garnering over 11,000 and 2,100 likes, respectively, in two weeks (shown below, left and right).

On July 11th, 2024, TikToker^[7] @anythingbecomemoe posted a video recreating Daten Route with Pomni in place of KAngel, garnering over 100,000 views in a week (shown below).

On the same day, X^[8] user @fujitaa_5 posted a piece of artwork based on the animation that gained over 24,000 likes in two weeks (shown below, left). On July 14th, X^[9] user @303_taroo posted art that gained over 8,500 likes in 11 days (shown below, right).

On July 15th, 2024, YouTuber^[10] CowEye posted a video in which he dances along to the animation, which has been converted to a Dance Dance Revolution track, while changing outfits along with KAngel, garnering over 200,000 views in 10 days (shown below).

On July 17th and 21st, YouTubers^[11]^[12] Hendi the Hen and HOWCOW uuu posted recreations of the original animation that garnered over 247,000 views and 700,000 views, respectively, by July 25th, 2024, (shown below, left and right).
