Darling Guess Who's Back From Jail refers to a viral TikTok sound created by TikToker Carringtonxx (aka Carrington or SwagBoy) in February 2024, in which he pretended to be a "Prison Boyfriend" on FaceTime with his girl. Carringtonxx was following the trend of "Use this sound in an Uber if you feel unsafe" which consisted of men making fake phone call sounds to scare creepy Uber drivers for women passengers. Carringtonxx's audio was used in memes going into 2024.

On January 31st, 2024, TikToker^[1] @carringtonxx posted a video of himself in the car with text reading, "Use this sound if you feel unsafe in an Uber (Prison Boyfriend)," following the "Use this sound if you feel unsafe in an Uber" trend. @carringtonxx started the video by loudly saying, "Darling, guess who's back from jail?" Over 19 days, the video received roughly 30.6 million plays and 4.7 million likes (shown below).

As early as 2023, @carringtonxx had posted similar TikToks^[2] using the "Prison Boyfriend" character whose catchphrase was "Darling!"

After the video went viral, people used its TikTok sound.^[3] For instance, on February 3rd, 2024, TikToker^[4] @hoop.reads posted a video related to BookTok, gaining over 686,900 plays and 93,700 likes in 16 days (shown below, left).

On February 9th, 2024, TikToker^[5] @matteaing used the audio to parody the moment of coming home from therapy, gaining over 178,200 plays and 11,600 likes in 10 days (shown below, right).

Others on the platform posted videos of themselves playing the audio in cars that were presumably Ubers where they felt unsafe. For instance, on February 10th, 2024, TikToker^[6] @giannagrazianooo posted a video in a car, gaining over 14.2 million plays and 2.9 million likes in nine days (shown below, left).

On February 14th, 2024, TikToker^[7] @bitcheslovejulia posted a similar video, receiving over 5.7 million plays and 964,200 likes in five days (shown below, right).
