Dapping Up 10s or Dabbing Up 10s is a trend in which someone films themselves dapping up people who they think are perfect 10s on a scale of physical attraction from 1β10 at an event or specific location. The trend began as early as April 2022 on TikTok and gained viral spread over the following years, also inspiring spin-offs. "Dapping up" or "dap up" is a slang term referring to a form of handshake or fist bump used to greet someone.
Origin
The earliest known example of the "dapping up 10s" trend was posted by TikToker[1] @sandyflagg09 on April 2nd, 2022, garnering over 10.5 million views in two years. In the video, the TikTokers daps up three women attending his school formal.
Spread
The trend was increasingly popularized over the following years, becoming particularly viral in 2024. For example, on May 2nd, 2024, TikToker[2] @ily.lynn.777 posted a video in which she daps up 10s at the airport, garnering over 22.2 million views in three months. On May 19th, TikToker[3] @claraajulie posted a version of the trend that gained over 45 million views in the same span of time.
On June 8th, TikToker[4] @kykynicolee posted a version of the trend dapping 10s up at the Gov Ball, garnering over 9.9 million views in two months. On August 8th, X[5] user @sosasluv made a post about the trend, writing, "Dapping up 10βs videos losing itβs value, yall just dappin up anyone atp," garnering over 2,200 likes in three weeks.
On August 29th, 2024, X[6] user @_Nicksy posted, "The funniest thing about dapping up 10s videos are the friends standing next to the person getting dapped up. They always try not to look π," garnering over 3,000 likes in a day.
