About

Cybertruck and Apple Vision Pro Owners refers to a series of viral videos of men wearing Apple Vision Pro headsets while driving (or using self-driving) in their Tesla Cybertruck. Two videos in particular went viral on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter / X in February 2024. One showed a man using the VR headset in the driver's seat. The other showed a man exiting his Cybertruck with a headset on. However, the videos were said to be fake skits according to the original creator.

Origin

On February 3rd, 2024, Instagram[1] user @supercar_ron posted a Reel showing a man in the driver's seat of a Tesla Cybertruck wearing an Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The video received over 3 million views and 54,100 likes in two days (shown below).

Soon after his Reel went viral, Instagram[1] user @supercar_ron posted a comment that claimed that the video was a skit, the headset wasn’t displaying anything and the self-driving wasn’t activated. The comment gained over 2,100 likes in two days (shown below).

Spread

Later on February 3rd, 2024, X[2] user @blakestonks reposted the video, captioning it, "We’re so fucked." Over two days, the tweet received roughly 17 million views and 98,000 likes (shown below).

X[2] user @blakestonks' tweet gained mass interest on the platform. For instance, on February 3rd, X[3] user @uncledoomer captioned the video akin to the Unbothered. Moisturized. Happy… catchphrase, receiving over 17,000 likes in two days (shown below, left).

Also on February 3rd, 2024, X[4] user @CameroMitch quoted the video, posing a future scenario about somebody's child being hit in a Cybertruck-Vision-Pro-related accident, gaining over 123,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).

The video started to spread elsewhere online, evident in a repost shared to the /r/ThatsInsane[5] subreddit on February 4th, 2024, gaining over 5,100 upvotes in one day. The video was also reposted by the TikTok [5] account of Barstool Sports on February 4th, gaining over 4.8 million plays and 401,700 likes in a day.

Hoax Speculation

On February 4th, 2024, TikToker[6] @jeremyjudkins2 posted a video in which he alleged that the original video from @supercar_ron was a hoax because Tesla's Cybertruck didn't have auto-pilot integrated into its system yet. The TikToker speculated that the video was staged and that the driver was pretending to be on auto-pilot by keeping his hands off the wheel. His claims were akin to the comment left on the original Instagram[1] post by its creator. The TikTok received over 50,000 plays in a day (shown below).

Man Exiting Cybertruck While Wearing Apple Vision Pro Video

On February 4th, Instagram[7] user @thegrizz_ posted a Reel that showed a man exiting a Cybertruck while wearing an Apple Vision Pro headset. @thegrizz_ also tagged Instagram[1] user @supercar_ron in the video, alluding to it also being a skit. In one day, the Reel received roughly 20.4 million views and 359,000 likes (shown below).

Later on February 4th, 2024, X[8] user @Teslaconomics reposted the video, gaining over 14.7 million views and 22,000 likes in a day. The tweet gained viral quotes and replies, such as one shared by X[9] user @ZeroSuitCamus on February 4th, who made fun of the tweet's caption, "This has to be the hardest, most futuristic exit of a Cybertruck owner anyone has ever seen thus far 🔥," gaining over 13,000 likes in a day (shown below, left).

Also on February 4th, 2024, X[10] user @LucyXIV quoted the video, writing, "this is the most virgin thing I’ve ever seen thanks for posting," earning over 162,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).
