Cyberpunk 2077 Character Creations refers to a series of memes about Cyberpunk 2077’s player customization during the character creation mode. Coinciding with the release of the game, various memes using the in-game engine and photoshopped images to create funny avatars or those that reference pop culture icons spread online across multiple platforms in mid-December 2020, similar to what was seen with the Fallout 4 character creations in 2015.
Origin
On December 10th, 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 released worldwide and players began using the in-game character creation tool to remake individuals from various pop culture references to memes and more. One such example was posted by Redditor CaptParadox on December 10th to the /r/gaming[1] subreddit, which depicted Quorra from Tron Legacy (shown below). The post received over 1,500 upvotes and 50 comments in five days.

Spread
On December 12th, 2020, Twitter[2] user WoodmanFLG posted a version of the character customization screen photoshopped to include Handsome Squidward’s CGI model, which received over 316,000 likes, 28,300 retweets and 1,800 replies in three days (seen below, left). That same day, Redditor NOMADISATERRORIST reposted the meme to /r/cyberpunkgame[3] where it received over 62,700 upvotes, 1,000 comments and numerous Reddit Awards.

On December 14th, Redditor PurePrepared posted another example to the /r/gaming[4] sub depicting Steve Buscemi from the How Do You Do Fellow Kids meme, receiving over 79,500 upvotes, 820 comments and several Reddit Awards in 24 hours (shown below, left). That same day, Twitter[5] user NostalgicVGEdit tweeted a version of Hide the Pain Harold in the game’s character creation menu, receiving over 219,600 likes, 17,300 retweets and 550 replies in 16 hours (shown below, right).

On December 15th, Redditor fadingsignal posted a variant depicting Mark Zuckerberg to the /r/gaming[6] subreddit, accumulating over 53,000 upvotes, 710 comments and numerous awards in four hours (seen below).
