Marxism is an economic and sociopolitical ideology and a critical method of socioeconomic analysis pioneered by two German philosophers, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, beginning with the publication of The Communist Manifesto in 1848. It is generally regarded as the antithesis of capitalism and has influenced multiple political and social movements in Europe, Latin America, Asia and parts of Africa.
