G_enshin Impact_ Apple Pie is a limited-time dessert offering from McDonald's as part of their collaboration with the video game Genshin Impact. The item, which is available between September 17th and 29th in the U.S. and sold separately from the Genshin Impact meal, became the subject of memes that month due to the perceived absurdity behind the idea and of the name of the apple pie. The pie was advertised heavily online through fan art depicting Genshin Impact characters eating the pie. The pie comes with exclusive codes to be used in-game.

On September 10th, 2024, the @GenshinImpact X^[1] account announced that, between September 17th and the 29th, McDonald's restaurants in the U.S. would offer a limited time Genshin Impact meal and a Genshin Impact apple pie, sold with specific Genshin Impact related packaging.

The Genshin Impact meal and apple pie were heavily advertised online through sponsored influencer posts, which included artwork depicting Genshin Impact characters eating at McDonald's. For example, on September 15th, X^[2] user @nanoda_jun posted a piece of art captioned, "So many apple pies⁉️" in which characters eat the apple pies, garnering over 19,000 likes in five days.

On September 18th, TikToker^[3] @satoyu727 posted a promotional video for the apple pie, in which a woman tries to grab the pie from a fridge but a person laughing and barking on a cellphone in the fridge tries to stop her, garnering over 1.8 million views in two days.

Memes

Outside of advertising, the Genshin Impact apple pie specifically became the subject of memes online due to the perceived absurdity of the product. On September 12th, iFunny^[4] user The_Ramen_God posted an image macro captioning a photo of the apple pie, "It's way too early for McDonald's to be doing all this," garnering over 1,800 smiles in a week.

On September 18th, 2024, X^[5] user @tippitytoptweet posted a photo of themselves holding the pie, writing, "extremely embarrassed that i had to utter the words 'can i have the genshin impact apple pie' in order to receive this," garnering over 1,000 likes in two days.

On September 19th, X^[6] user @Quest64Official posted a photo of the Genshin Impact apple pie on a McDonald's ordering kiosk, writing, "After working overtime I stopped for a $5 Meal Deal and was confronted with this," garnering over 12,000 likes in a day.
