Crypto Boy or I Don't Care About Your Crypto Boy is a viral video and song about NFTs and cryptocurrency created by TikToker and singer Salemilese in April 2022. Since its inception, the song has been extended into a longer hit, remixed and used in various other memes, as well as TikTokers creating lip dubs to the lyrics. In January 2022, Salemilese notably helped to spread the It's Me or the PS5 song, another Open Verse Challenge.

Origin

On April 22nd, 2022, TikToker Salemilese was doing an Open Verse Challenge when the account Jaxwritessongs^[1] responded that she should make an open verse song about NFTs, a topic that was frequent in conversation on many social media platforms at the time. The original video of the opening to the song received 78,000 likes and 2,700 comments in one month (shown below).

Spread

On April 24th, 2022, after TikToker h.v.rt1ess commented that the open verse should be made into a full song, Salemilese complied and uploaded another few verses^[2] to it on her own channel, this time getting 45,000 likes in one month (shown below) and causing others to Duet and try to add to it.

On May 9th, 2022, Salemilese uploaded another further breakdown of the chorus,^[3] but this time issuing it as an Open Verse Challenge for others to be able to add onto it and keep the song going, earning 15,000 likes in one week and sparking other TikTokers who put their own spin on it (shown below).

On May 13th, the YouTube channel Cryptos For All^[4] uploaded a mashup of the notable additions to Salemilese's parts, creating a nearly three-minute-long song, which features the eponymous crypto boy firing back for some verses in the middle and earning the channel over 85,000 views in one week (shown below).
