"Cry Me a River" is an idiom which is mostly used on various websites to mock or troll whinny persons or unnecessary dramas on the internet. The term is pretty similar to cry moar. Although the term "Cry Me a River is often used just as a statement, it is also used to caption reaction face images with heavy sarcasm.

The origin for the saying "Cry Me a River" was in 1955 when the popular song "Cry Me a River" was sung by Julie London, and then Ella Fitzgerald. It gained internet notability around April 23, 2003 when it was submitted to Urban Dictionary.
