The videos have been compared to a form of hypnosis, with Méndez repeating phrases, including a high-pitched "yeah" and the phrase "mi look," and dancing in a hypnotic manner. Méndez started posting the videos in late December 2025, and they garnered virality on TikTok and X / Twitter over the following weeks leading into early 2026, inspiring reactions.

On December 24th, 2025, actress and content creator Cristina Méndez posted a video on TikTok^[1] and X^[2] (@xstinamendez) in which she gives her first lesson in "orbology," garnering over 250,000 views on the former and 49,000 views on the latter in two weeks.

In the video, she says that you don't choose "the orb," but that it chooses you. She claims that now that it has chosen you, you might feel like you're being observed and you might have an undying hunger for sandwiches.

On December 27th, 2025, Méndez posted her second orbology video to TikTok^[3] and X,^[4] garnering over 75,000 views on the former and 1,300 likes and 95,000 views on the latter in two weeks.

On December 30th, she posted the third video on TikTok^[5] and X,^[6] garnering over 93,000 views on the former and 1,700 likes and 70,000 views on the latter in a week.

On January 6th, 2026, @xstinamendez posted a fourth "orbology lesson" video on X,^[7] captioning the video, "strange coincidences," garnering over 11,000 likes, 820 reposts and a million views in a day.

The fourth orbology video inspired a variety of notable reactions on X. On January 6th, X^[8] user @offbeatorbit quoted the post, writing, "I go under hypnosis whenever she does that first 'yeeea,'" garnering over 15,000 likes in a day.

Later that day, X^[9] user @PanasonicDX4500 quoted the video, writing, "I can’t wait to find out who’s being John Hinckley Jr’d by these," garnering over 5,900 likes in a day.

On January 7th, 2026, @xstinamendez posted another video on X^[10] where she repeatedly tells viewers not to be scared, garnering over 7,200 likes and 110,000 views in under a day.
