"Crawling In My Skin" is a lyric from the 2001 nu metal song “Crawling” by the American alternative rap rock group Linkin Park.[2] On the web, the chorus of the song is frequently featured in anime music videos (AMVs), as well as in montage parodies to mock edginess due to its association with teenage angst.

Origin

On March 1st, 2001, Linkin Park released "Crawling" as the second single for their debut album Hybrid Theory (shown below). On August 29th, 2004, Urban Dictionary[5] user Protodude submitted an entry for “crawling in my skin,” defining it as an ironic phrase used in response to “somebody being an angsty bitch.”

On August 12th, 2006, YouTuber sora364 uploaded an AMV featuring clips of the character Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto with "Crawling" playing in the background (shown below).

On December 28th, 2009, YouTuber Killerlion69 created a playlist of "Crawling" remix videos.[3] On March 19th, 2011, Redditor I_Rape_Cats submitted a comic to /r/funny,[4] featuring the cartoon character Donald Duck singing the lyrics to "Crawling" while driving in a car to (shown below).

On December 28th, 2013, YouTuber RosalinaSama uploaded a mashup of "Crawling" and "Gangnam Style" (shown below, left). On June 29th, 2014, YouTuber Maawong uploaded an edited commercial for a musical toothbrush with the song "Crawling" playing in the background (shown below, right).
