Palmer's photoshoot poses became the subject of parodies, Photoshop edits and jokes on Twitter / X and Instagram in June 2024 as the exploitable image spread online via memes.

Origin

On June 11th, 2024, England's official football team shared a photoshoot on Instagram^[1] of all players doing celebrations or certain actions so they could be posted on social media for the upcoming UEFA European Football Championship. Cole Palmer's pictures^[2] (seen below) quickly gained virality on X / Twitter, amassing more than 6,000 likes and 195 reposts in two days.

Cole Palmer's photoshoot for the English national football team quickly inspired photoshopped edits and parodies making fun of the footballer. For instance, on June 11th, 2024, the X^[3] meme page @ruinedshirts edited Cole's crossed-arms picture in a skydiving image (seen below, left), which garnered roughly 110 likes and five reposts in three days.

On June 12th, X^[4] user @ChatShirt captioned one of Palmer's pictures with a POV meme, saying "POV: Cole Palmer is your gynaecologist." The post (seen below, right) received over 32,000 likes and 1,000 reposts in two days.
