Close Enough is a rage comic character that is used to convey mild satisfaction towards the outcome of a situation, despite not having achieved a result that would be considered ideal. The character's facial expression is derived from another rage comic series called Fuck Yea.

Origin

One of the first known appearances of the Close Enough Guy in a rage comic was shared on humor site Regretful Morning^[1] on March 17th, 2010 in a compilation of Fuck Yeah comics, showing a character who has just had sex but was unable to bring his partner to orgasm.

Spread

On April 20th, 2010 Regretful Morning shared another rage comic compilation^[2] solely consisting of Close Enough comics. A week and a half later, humor site Acid Cow^[3] reposted the same compilation of 20 comics in a different order. Later that same year, Close Enough comics began appearing on humor sites on LOLBlog^[4] and Memebase.^[5] As of September 2012, there are 330 rage comics titled “Close Enough” on Reddit^[6] while new instances continue to emerge on Rage Comics Romania^[7], Rage Comics Archive^[8] and Memebase^[9] among other sites.
