About
Chupagetti or Here's The Recipe For Chupaghetti is a portmanteau of the Filipino word "chupa," meaning "suck," and "spaghetti." The word appears to have been popularized by TikToker @tyronetiaga01 sometime in early 2021. The catchphrase "here's the recipe for Chupagetti" became a prevalent spam copypasta on TikTok in March 2022 in the same vein as here's the recipe for brownies around the same time.
Origin
A possible origin for the word "chupaghetti" is YouTuber,[1] streamer and Gran Turismo player Chuupaghetti, aka Terence Lallave, who has been posting comedy gaming videos since 2016.
The term was popularized by Filipino comedy TikToker[2] @tyronetiaga01. For example, on January 10th, 2021, he posted a video captioned, "chupaghetti effect" where he dances in his room with a wide smile on his face, gaining over 379,000 views in a year (shown below, left). The next day he posted a video to TikTok[4] where he says the word, pretending to be a Rubix Cube tutorial YouTuber, gaining over 494,000 views in a year (shown below, right). The top comment, posted that day, reads, "its the ✨chupagetti✨ for me."
Spread
In March 2022 TikTokers began spamming a copypasta on random videos reading, "Anyway, Here's The Recipe For Brownies," followed by a list of brownie ingredients. At the end of the month, TikTokers started spamming, "here's the recipe for ✨CHUPAGETTI✨." In late March YouTubers began pointing this out in critical videos showcasing comment threads filled with the copypasta and asking people to stop (examples shown below, left and right). On March 31st, Dexerto[3] also published an article about the term.
On the same day, Twitter[5] user @httpcbg discouraged their followers from spamming the comment on K-Pop group TXT's TikTok page, writing, "stop commenting the chupagetti trend on txt's tiktok. aside that it's annoying, the word itself is disgusting :)" gaining over 1,800 likes and 390 retweets in under a day (shown below). They elaborate why in a comment, explaining, "it's originally just spaghetti but these weird fans exhanged it with 'chupa' which is a s3x term in filipino TT."
