About

The Chugging Tylenol TikTok Trend refers to a TikTok trend about taking large doses of the pain relief medication Tylenol as a reaction to the U.S. government under President Donald Trump announcing that taking Tylenol during pregnancy could lead to an increased risk of autism in the child. The trend inspired viral discourse about President Trump and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s "Autism Announcement" and whether or not their claim had scientific merit and accuracy.

Origin

On September 22nd, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of Health Robert F. Kenney Jr. held a press conference at the White House, announcing that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would begin to notify doctors that the use of Tylenol, an over-the-counter pain relief medication, during pregnancy can be associated with an increased risk of autism.[2] Tylenol is commonly called "paracetamol" outside of the U.S.[3] and is the brand name for acetaminophen.

Various publications like the New York Times[1] and NBC News[3] shared reports that day that challenged the White House's claims, citing statements made by experts and councils of experts, like the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which said, "A large amount of data from pregnant women who used paracetamol during pregnancy indicates no risk of malformations on the developing fetus or on newborns," in a statement to NBC News.[3]

On September 22nd, TikToker[4] @graceboyles8 shared a video of herself taking a pill of Tylenol with a caption reading, "Here's me, a PREGNANT woman, taking TYLENOL because I believe in science and not someone who has no medical background." The video received over 12,400 likes in a day.

For instance, on September 22nd, 2025, TikToker[5] @afraidofnowoman2.0 shared a video of himself eating with a text caption reading, "Trump: 'Don't use Tylenol' / Democrats: *Now chugging bottles of Tylenol on TikTok.*" His video gained over 10,700 likes in a day.

Also on September 22nd, 2025, Twitter / X [6] user @TheLizVariant tweeted a reaction GIF, captioned, "Scrolling through social media and seeing pregnant women chug Tylenol just because of their TDS is absolutely wild." The tweet gained over 350 likes in a day.
