Origin

On March 21, 2013, a user on Urban Dictionary posted a definition for Chromebook about Chromebooks being a crappy operating system.

Reddit Memes

Approximately five and a half years later, on October 22, 2018 Reddit user semajvc posted a Spongebob meme on r/teenagers about schools spending their money on Chromebooks instead of improving the AC, which received over 3900 upvotes. On December 8, 2018 Reddit user VIKX_ posted a Lisa Simpson's Presentation meme on the r/pcmasterrace subreddit saying "if you ever feel useless, think about chromebooks", which got over 5300 upvotes.
