Choose Your Path, also referred to as "Choose Your Subclass," refers to a snowclone popular on Twitter in which a person presents a scenario where the reader hits a certain age and must choose from a list of things commonly associated with that age with which to define themselves.

Origin

On January 22nd, 2018, Twitter user @mitchysuch^[1] tweeted "You just turned 25, choose a subclass," followed by a list of things commonly associated with people in their mid-20s on Twitter. The tweet gained over 14,000 retweets and 63,000 likes (shown below).

Spread

In the following days, variations on the tweet began to spread on the site. On the 23rd, Twitter user @jimpjorps^[2] posted a joke where the age in the snowclone was 5, gaining over over 170 retweets and 1,300 likes (shown below, left). The same day, Twitter user @AdamSinger^[3] quoted @mitchysuch's tweet with the age of 35, gaining over 110 retweets and 550 likes (shown below, right).

Over the course of the following few days, the snowclone changed to more popularly go by the name "Choose Your Class" and added subcultures to the setup. On January 25th, music writer Dan Ozzi^[4] uploaded a variation for "punk dude over 30," gaining 3,500 retweets and 15,000 likes (shown below, left). On the 26th, Twitter user @KapustaDiamond^[5] did a similar variation with "punk woman over 30," gaining 20 retweets and 84 likes in two hours (shown below, right).
