Choose Your Class is an exploitable image customized with photographs of various people and fictional characters to fit different archetypal classes found in role-playing games, including "Fighter," "Paladin," "Specialist," "Mage," "Warrior" and "Assassin."

Origin

On March 7th, 2016, Tumblr user godh8sfags2^[4] uploaded an image titled "Choose Your Class," featuring several stock photos of an elderly woman holding a variety of objects, with each image assigned to a different role-playing game character class (shown below). Within five months, the post gathered upwards of 164,000 notes.

Spread

On April 5th, Tumblr user viktopia^[5] posted an illustrated version of the Choose Your Class comic, featuring characters from the role-playing video game series Dragon Age (shown below). Within four months, the comic gained over 17,800 notes.

On August 20th, Redditor AyyLmayonaise submitted a version of the exploitable featuring various photographs of reality television star Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars to /r/me_irl, where it received more than 2,700 votes (92% upvoted) in the next four days (shown below).

Meanwhile, Redditor MerrickThe posted a version of the image with several photographs of YouTuber iDubbbz to the /r/idubbbz^[6] subreddit (shown below, left). On August 21st, Redditor FatPlaysGames submitted a Choose Your Class image featuring pictures of YouTubers iDubbbz, MaxMoeFoe and Filthy Frank to /r/idubbbz^[7] (shown below).
