About

Chipotle Bag Tattoos, also known as Chipotle Bag Guys, refers to a joke that lightskin men with numerous text-based tattoos often look like a paper bag from Chipotle restaurants. The joke originates from Twitter / X and spread via memes across social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram in the 2020s. A notable instance was people calling singer Adam Levine a Chipotle Bag in 2019. Calling lightskin men with tattoos "Chipotle Bags" became a common slang term in turn, mostly used by women who joked about dating or flirting with Chipotle Bags because the aesthetic was attractive to them.

Origin

The Chipotle Bag Tattoos meme dates back to 2015, with the earliest known post shared by X[1] user @Headgraphix on October 26th, 2015, reading, "Light skin niggas want to look like chipotle bags sooooo bad! 😂😂😂," gaining 46 likes in nine years.

It's unclear if the X user coined the joke because an almost identical Instagram screenshot from a since-deleted account called @insta_comedy went viral on Reddit's /r/BlackPeopleTwitter[2] on October 28th, 2015, amassing over 13,000 upvotes in nine years (shown below).

Spread

On March 14th, 2018, X[3] user @engxl quoted a photo of another user named Jack Francis, saying, "nigga look like a chipotle bag," gaining over 62,000 likes in six years (shown below, left).

On February 3rd, 2019, X[4] user @eminemmcflurryy tweeted, "adam levine with his shirt off looks like a chipotle bag," gaining over 62,000 likes in five years (shown below, right).

In 2020, viral tweets[5] were posted about King Bach looking like a Chipotle bag in his infamous George Floyd video. For instance, on June 5th, 2020, X[6] user @Hooo_goe tweeted a side-by-side comparison, earning over 9,500 likes in four years (shown below).

In 2024, being tatted like a Chipotle bag became increasingly associated with attractiveness via viral memes and videos in which women established the look as their type. For instance, on March 15th, 2024, TikToker[7] @felaaliyah_ posted a video with text reading, "When he tatted like a chipotle bag," gaining over 2.7 million plays and 457,900 likes in three months (shown below, left).
