Chihiro Unsheathing a Katana Redraws, also known simply as Kagura Bachi Redraws, refers to a series of redraw art of character Chihiro Rokuhira from the Kagura Bachi manga series unsheathing a katana. The redraw trend achieved popularity as a part of the Kagura Bachi Glazing trend that involved excessively praising the manga in September 2023.

Origin

On September 10th, 2023, a color preview panel of Kagura Bachi, an upcoming shonen manga, was revealed by the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The panel depicts the main character Chihiro unsheathing a katana. On the same day, Twitter / X^[1] account @WSJ_manga posted the panel along with two other previews, with the post garnering over 190 reposts and 1,100 likes in two weeks (post and image shown below, left and right).

Spread

Following the sudden semi-ironic popularity of Kagura Bachi on social media, the image also achieved virality as a redraw reference on X. For example, on September 20th, 2023, X^[2] user @Izzy5410 uploaded a Sonic the Hedgehog redraw with Chihiro in the background. The post received more than 3,500 likes and 760 reposts in two days (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter / X^[3] user @globining posted a redraw featuring Hitori Goto from Bocchi The Rock!. The post received more than 2,900 likes and 800 reposts in two days (shown below, right).

On September 21st, 2023, artist @TheF1amethr0wer posted a fan art of Demoman from Team Fortress 2. The post received more than 13,900 likes and 2,000 reposts on X^[4] in one day (shown below, left). On the same day, artistr @Zela_Kantal uploaded^[5] fan art of Hatsune Miku that garnered over 26,400 likes and 4,700 reposts in one day (shown below, right).
