Chicago Bonnie refers to a viral video of a 78-year-old woman named Bonnie Tracy recounting an encounter at the grocery store during the coronavirus outbreak in March 2020. In the video, Bonnie calls herself a polish Chicago girl and tells her Facebook friends that a woman at the store called her "crazy" for using precautions and that she wanted to "kick her ass." The video was shared on Twitter and received praise.

Origin

On March 21st, 2020, Facebook user Bonnie Tracy posted a video recounting an argument she had at the grocery store which gained over 14,000 reacts and 20,000 shares in four days (shown below).

Spread

On March 24th, Twitter user @NeedaBeef69[2] tweeted the video with the caption, "Can we all give Chicago Bonnie a round of applause. 👏🏼 You don’t mess with Chicago women" (shown below, left). The tweet garnered over 3,600 likes and 650 retweets in a day. The next day, Twitter user @chaedria[3] tweeted, 'BONNIE SAID 'I'M 75 BUT I'M FROM CHICAGO AND I WILL TAP HER ON THE SHOULDER ASK HER TO STEP OUTSIDE AND PROCEED TO KICK HER BLEACH BLOND 50 YEAR OLD ASS' WHEN DO WE RIDE, CLYDE??" in reply to the video (shown below, right).

That same day, The Twitter account for WGN Morning News posted a video of their news story about the video (shown below). The tweet received over 230 likes in a day. The Daily Dot[1] and Heavy[4] published articles on the video.
