About

Charlie Kirk Murder Snake Eyes Conspiracy Theory refers to an internet conspiracy theory based on similarities between the shooting of right-wing political pundit Charlie Kirk in September 2025 and the plot of the 1998 thriller film Snake Eyes, starring Nicolas Cage. A politician character named "Charles Kirkland" is fatally shot in the neck at a live event (a professional boxing match) in the movie, mirroring the death of Charlie Kirk.

Others claimed that the assassination in the movie also occurred on September 10th, but the claim was false, due to a misreading of a sign in the film that instead said September 19th. The sign in question also showed a boxer nicknamed "Tyler the Executioner," which conspiracy theorists linked to the name of Kirk's suspected shooter, Tyler Robinson. Internet users noticed the coincidences and shared them on Twitter / X and Reddit in late 2025 as the theory spread online and sparked discourse.

Origin

Snake Eyes is a film that was released on August 7th, 1998, starring actor Nicolas Cage as Ricky Santoro, "a flamboyant and corrupt Atlantic City cop," who is present at the assassination of the Secretary of Defense, Charles Kirkland, at a live boxing event. Kirkland is notably shot in the neck in the scene.[2][3]

On September 24th, 2025, Redditor Popular_Tale_7626 posted about the theory to the /r/conspiracy[4] subreddit, writing, "Have you ever watched the 1998 movie Snake Eyes where the character Charles Kirkland is assassinated with a shot in the neck on September 10th?"

The claim that the film's assassination took place on September 10th was due to a misreading of a screencap, which showed an advertisement for the film's boxing match with the date "September 19th" written. The screencap also showed the name "Tyler the Executioner," which was the nickname for one of the film's boxer characters, Lincoln Tyler.[2][3][5]

The coincidence noted on the /r/conspiracy[5] thread was "Tyler" being the name of the suspected shooter of Kirk, Tyler Robinson, who "executed" Kirk.
