Chandler Bing Hugging a Record is an image macro taken from a 1996 episode of Friends in which Chandler Bing sits in a chair and hugs a Lionel Richie album. The image had been edited with various other records and posted to Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram to show appreciation for the album.

Origin

November 14th, 1996, season three episode six, "The One With the Giant Poking Device," of Friends aired. At the very end of the episode, Chandler Bing hugs a Lionel Richie album while singing with his eyes closed (shown below).

On March 7th, 2014, Tumblr^[1] user nothingtolosebutmymind posted the earliest known edit of the scene and added an Oasis album (shown below, left). On December 5th, 2018, Tumblr^[2] user and fan account ionlyliketaylor posted a Reputation variation which gained over 90 notes in two years (shown below, right).

On December 12th, 2019, One Direction Instagram^[3] fan account 1d_4e posted a Watermelon Sugar variation of the format and received over 14,900 likes in four months.
