Origins

The earliest available comparison was posted on March 30th, 2019 by Twitter [1] user @BeyyinFormation comparing recording artist Beyoncé and sea sponges. The post received more than 900 retweets and 3,900 likes in three weeks (shown below).

Spread

That day, others followed the format, comparing other celebrities to other inanimate objects. For example, Twitter[2] user @wiIlshart posted a thread comparing Riverdale actor Cole Sprouse (shown below, left).

On April 8th, Twitter[3] user @breakdownzach posted a thread comparing recording artist Mariah Carey to the whisk cooking utensil. The post received more than 13,000 retweets and 47,000 likes in less than one week (shown below, center).

Several days later, on April 11th, Carey retweeted[4] the whisks post. She wrote, "Whisk me away dahhling." The post received more than 64,000 retweets and 380,000 likes in four days (shown below, right).

On April 13th, 2019, Twitter[5] user @ameliadeew tweeted a thread of actor Ben Affleck as "beverages at Dunkin Donuts." The post received more than 9,000 retweets and 30,000 likes in two days (shown below). That day, Twitter[6] published a Moments page on the thread.

Several media outlets covered the meme, including Mashable. [7] Twitter[8] published an Events page on the comparisons, as well.
