About

Cee Lo Bird refers to the colorful costume worn by R&B singer / songwriter Cee Lo Green[1] during his memorable performance of the hit single "F*ck You" (Forget You)[2] at the 2011 Grammys Awards ceremony. The live segment also featured Oscars-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and a band of muppets as back-up singers and dancers.

Origin

At the annual Grammys Awards on February 13th, 2011, R&B artist Cee Lo performed a psychedelic, space-age themed rendition of his hit single "F*ck You," guest-starring a band of Muppets and American actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

In terms of stage design & presentation, Cee Lo's Grammy performance of "Forget You" shares much resemblance to Elton John's 1977 performance of "The Crocodile Rock" on The Muppet Show:

According to MTV News[3], the concept behind Sunday night's show was put forth by the artist himself, who approached the Henson Company with the idea to bring an army of Muppets on stage during the performance:

Henson said the idea to sing with the puppets came from Cee Lo, who approached the Henson Company with a concept of what he wanted to do. "We had never worked with him before, and he's just a fabulous guy," Henson said. "I think he's a lifelong fan of the Muppets, and he had a pretty good idea of what he wanted."
