Cats Wearing Tights, officially known as Meowfit of The Day, is a single topic blog run by Swedish blogger Katja Wulff who shares photographs of her cat Gucci dressed in stuffed in tights or leggings, in a similar vein to the Chinese photo fad "Dogs Wearing Pantyhose."
Origin
On October 22nd, 2013, Swedish balloon artist and blogger Katja Wulff launched the single topic blog Meowfit of The Day[1] to share photographs of her 16-year-old Siamese cat Gucci dressed in stuffed leggings. According to Wulff's interview with The Metro[11], the idea came about randomly as Wulff and her boyfriend Dan tried to come up with a new prank to play on their cat.
Spread
On November 2nd, an image compilation of Gucci dressed in tights was featured on Tastefully Offensive[2], where the post garnered more than 100,000 notes in the first 48 hours. On November 3rd, Wulff's blog was picked up from the radar by BuzzFeed[3], followed by a slew of mentions on the next day from Laughing Squid[4], io9[5], The Daily Dot[10] and The Huffington Post.[6]
