Catch Me If You Can, Mr. Holmes, sometimes misheard as Catch Me If You Can, Mr. Horse, is a viral audio clip and line of dialogue from the anime series Yuukoku no Moriarty or Moriarty the Patriot. An edited version of the clip was uploaded to YouTube in 2021 and TikTok in May 2022, becoming a viral lip-dub audio in skits about refusing to stop doing something and inspiring video edits.
Origin
On December 13th, 2020, the 10th episode of the anime series Moriarty the Patriot premiered.[1] In one scene, the character William James Moriarty says, "Catch me if you can, Mr. Holmes." On December 13th, YouTuber[6] ヴィア🥞 then posted a video edit of the scene, garnering over 474,000 views in two years (shown below).
Spread
On January 29th, 2021, YouTuber[2] Fergunson Xilliard posted an edit of the scene, garnering over 13,800 views in two years (shown below).
On August 16th, 2021, YouTuber[3] kyo uploaded a video combining the sub and dub versions of the scene, garnering over 700,000 views in two years (shown below).
On May 30th, 2022, TikToker[4] @redakkai posted an edit of the scene, garnering over 2 million views in 11 months. The original sound[5] for @redakkai's video was used over 83,000 times in the next year, mostly in lip dub videos. The sound saw significant use in March 2023 (popular examples shown below).
