About
Cat Fort is a photo fad that involves building a fortress-like enclosure around one's cat with household items, such as cardboard boxes and decorative pillows, in a similar fashion to the setting of the collaborative webcomic series Dog Fort.
Origin
The earliest known example of a "cat fort" photograph was submitted to the r/Trees[2] subreddit on March 30th, 2010 by Redditor jamullah, though the original post has since been removed. The earliest known "cat fort" post that still remains accessible was submitted to the r/pics[3] subreddit on April 23rd, 2010 by Redditor windowbird.
Dog Fort
The idea of staging and photographing pet animals in a fortress-like setting has been also iterated through the collaborative webcomic series Dog Fort, which features a number of fictional canine characters fortified in similar-looking enclosures.
