Casey Frey's "Get TF Out of My Way" Video refers to a surreal sketch by Casey Frey in which he is chopping wood and bullied by another character (also played by Frey) until he appears to be inspired by a third character (also played by Frey) to dance, frustrating the bully. A month after the video was posted, screenshots of the bully and the wood-cutting character began seeing use on Twitter as reaction images.

Origin

On May 8th and May 9th, 2019, Frey posted "Get TF Out of My Way" to his social media channels. The video gained over 5.4 million views on his Instagram (shown below). It gained over 170,000 retweets and 554,000 likes on his Twitter account.[1]

Spread

On June 3rd, 2019, Twitter user @mothypal[2] joked that the video was about the worker's revolution, gaining over 5,700 retweets and 22,000 likes (shown below, left). The following day, users began using screenshots from the video as reaction images. User @notviking[3] made a United States History meme with screenshots, gaining over 7,700 retweets and 52,000 likes (shown below, right).



The screenshots continued seeing use as reaction images in popular tweets over the following two days. For example, user @freakin_dani[4] gained over 48,000 retweets and 111,000 likes with her example (shown below, left) and user @amandaasette's example[5] gained over 6,500 retweets and 24,000 likes (shown below, right). Recreations

In the spring of 2020, several social media users on TikTok and Twitter posted popular recreations of Frey's video. The first was posted by TikTok user alexnvsh on March 26th, 2020, gaining over 108,000 likes (shown below)

TikTok user @JamieJae posted a variation on March 31st, 2020. Their repost on Twitter gained significantly more spread, with over 34,000 retweets and 191,000 likes (shown below).


TikTok user honeymustardranch posted her variation on April 4th, gaining over 397,000 likes on the platform.[8] The video was reposted to Twitter by user @Skoog on April 21st, gaining over 88,000 retweets and 429,000 likes (shown below).
