About

Carmy In The Kitchen is an image macro of the Chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, played by actor Jeremy Allen White, from FX on Hulu's TV show The Bear looking pensive and serious in the kitchen while wearing a blue apron. The image is typically paired with various captions, primarily on Twitter in late 2022, related to cooking simple meals then contrasted by the difficult nature of Carmy's emotion.

Origin

The FX on Hulu TV show The Bear premiered on June 23rd, 2022. It centers on the character Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a young chef from the world of fine dining who returns home to Chicago to run his family's sandwich shop, The Original Beef of Chicagoland, soon after a death in his family.[1] The Bear was renewed for a second season on July 14th, 2022.

On June 29th, 2022, Forbes[2] was one of many news outlets to use a promo photo for The Bear showing Carmy in the kitchen wearing a blue apron, working amid the rest of the chefs behind him.[6] On September 11th, 2022, Twitter[3] user PAPPADEMAS tweeted a cropped version of the image, captioning it, "when I make dinner 2 nights in a row instead of ordering food," and earning roughly 295,000 likes in three days (shown below).

Roughly two hours later on September 12th, Twitter[5] user keyyobviously captioned a different photo of Carmy in a behind-the-scenes setting with, "What my DiGiorno stuffed crust pizza sees in the oven," earning roughly 3,500 likes in two days (shown below, right).
