#CareerEndingTwitterTypos is a hashtag associated with tweets containing an intentionally offensive typographical error.
Origin
On November 4th, 2013, comedian Patton Oswalt introduced the hashtag in a tweet with an intentional typo substituting the word “dong” for “dog.” In just over 24 hours, the tweet gathered over 630 favorites and 450 retweets.

Spread
An hour later, comedian Jim Norton used the hashtag in a tweet with an “s” added on to the word “aid,” thus implying that the AIDS virus should be sent to Third World countries. In the next 24 hours, the tweet received more than 260 retweets and favorites.

Also on November 4th, 2013, notable example tweets using the hashtag were highlighted on Gawker[1] and the Internet news blog UpRoxx.[2] According to the Twitter analytics site Topsy,[3] there were over 4,700 mentions of the hashtag that day.
