Car Alarm Challenge refers to a social media game wherein people attempt to recreate the sound of a common car alarm by manipulating their voice.
Origin
On March 27th, 2019, Twitter user @P_gibb posted a video of herself imitating a car alarm by tapping her throat while letting out a high-pitched noise. The tweet gained over 90,000 retweets and 284,000 likes (shown below).
Spread
The tweet inspired numerous imitators. Some popular examples include tweets by angelhi07, gaining over 380 retweets and 3,000 likes (shown below, top) and @taylor_headrick, who gained over 1,500 retweets and 8,900 likes (shown below, bottom).
Other popular examples include tweets by @pey10rae, which gained over 1,000 retweets and 7,200 likes (shown below, top) and @The_RapGirl, who gained over 350 retweets and 3,300 likes (shown below, bottom). The tweets were covered by Twitter Moments.[1]
